• CPA designation
• At least 2-3 years of relevant Canadian Assurance and Tax experience at a Public Practice firm, including experience in owner-managed business tax
• Proven ability to perform tax research, prepare technical memos and letters with a desire to remain up to date on new tax legislation and case law.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a focus on client service.
• Strong multi-tasker who can balance priorities during peak times and a responsible team player.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail skill.

Skills & Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation is a prerequisite.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in public practice accounting, covering accounting, tax, and assurance.
• Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant tax legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee diverse client projects.
• Outstanding leadership and team management capabilities, fostering a motivated and high-performing team.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication abilities, capable of presenting intricate financial data to clients and our team.
• Proficiency in accounting and tax software such as TaxPrep, Caseware, QuickBooks, Excel, etc.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational prowess, and time management skills; adept at handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

1. Client Management:
   1. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong relationships and delivering exceptional client service.
   2. Understand clients’ business objectives, industry trends, and challenges to provide proactive financial advice and solutions.
   3. Manage and oversee all aspects of client engagements, including financial reporting, tax planning, and compliance.
2. Team Leadership:
   1. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to a team of accountants and associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
   2. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables to meet client deadlines.
   3. Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support professional development initiatives for team members.
3. Reporting, Compliance and Regulation:
   1. Review and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to relevant accounting standards.
   2. Prepare and present financial statements and other financial reports, highlighting key findings and insights to clients and other stakeholders.
   3. Stay up to date with the latest accounting regulations, industry standards, and changes in tax laws to ensure compliance.
   4. Oversee the preparation and review of tax filings, including income tax returns, sales tax, and other tax returns.
4. Process Improvement:
   1. Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes, enhance operational efficiency, and leverage technology solutions.
   2. Implement best practices and standardize procedures to optimize workflow and ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables.
   3. Actively contribute to firm-wide initiatives and participate in developing firm policies and procedures.
